Wooden poles are an old concept. The whole of Amsterdam is built on it. But wooden piles have also been used in road and hydraulic engineering for years.

In the past, these wooden posts for hydraulic engineering were impregnated with creosote oil or with CCA salt mixtures. After the war, more and more hardwood poles from the tropics were used.
