Wijma Kampen wins FSC Project award Belgium 2021!
For the third time, FSC Belgium held the Belgian FSC Project Awards in 2021. Due to corona, the presentation of the award has been postponed. Through these Awards, FSC Belgium not only wants to put example projects in the spotlight, but also to demonstrate that building with FSC-certified wood products can be a daily reality, with a direct positive impact on responsible forest management worldwide.
Wijma Kampen BV has won the FSC Project Award Belgium 2021 with the beautiful bicycle and pedestrian bridge “Cycling through the Heide”. The bridge was built in collaboration with Besix (main contractor), Province of Limburg (client), Maat designers and Witteveen en Bos (architects). Wijma engineered the bridge and delivered it in prefab parts, and it was assembled on site by our skilled craftsmen. The supporting structure of Cycling through de Heide, with its unique cycling experience, is made of 100% FSC Azobé. The wall panels are made of treated coniferous wood, FSC mixed credit. The roadway is made of concrete grids. The hardwood bridge is no less than 300 meters long and 3.5 meters wide, with 1 main span of 15 meters in length. The bridge was festively opened in May 2021. We are very proud that we have contributed to this beautiful bridge!
